Thousands of people from all over southeast Queensland are switching off from technology and converging on the beach north of Brisbane every month — but not for a swim or paddle.
What started as a free guided meditation night for 25 people, now draws in crowds of up to 2000 yogis wishing to reconnect with the monthly super moon.
The monthly meditation nights are held at Suttons Beach, Redcliffe, just north of Brisbane.
Founder and kinesiology practitioner Nicci Garaicoa said some people ‘walk away crying’ from the experience.
“It’s the most relaxing, calm, and beautiful space to be in,” she said.
“People sit down as a family, as individuals or we get lots of couples of all ages. From babies to people in their 90s; doctors and surgeons and people who are probably homeless.
“There must be some kind of cool magic going on down there. People are just connecting to themselves and it’s a time to let go of all that stress and just be.”
Event details
What: full moon meditation
When: April 30, 5.30 pm

All you need to bring is a mat or towel to the monthly meetings at Suttons Beach Pavilion, which start at roughly 6.30 pm depending on the moon.
Mrs. Garaicoa said she still can’t believe how big the event has become.
“I didn’t plan on it,” she said.
“I feel incredibly humbled to be able to it and I’m very grateful to get to stand there and lead a group of people with the same end goal in mind.”
There will be no session for April as it coincides with Easter. Follow Karma Being Natural Therapies Facebook Page for updates.
